"Bone Wall---when and how??"
|
Hello, I just finished Act I with my Necro tonite and was wondering if anyone can clue me on Bone Wall. I have it but have not used it yet (not on purpose, anyway) It appears to be a defensive spell but exactly how is it used? Do I build a wall around me while I IM things and my skells kill them? Or do I use it to channel things away (or to) someplace? May I have some general strats, please? Thanks.. Zorton

Bone wall is not entirely useless. Its hit points get increased with the difficulty, they have tons of life in Nightmare and even more in Hell difficulty. The best thing to do with Bonewall is to entrap any hero missle attackers, like Lord de Seis. Encase him in bonewall and only his Bone Spirits can get out, these leaves you free to hammer on him with your own Bone Spirits, or to hurry up and kill off the other Oblivion Knights first before dealing with him. Bonewall is also a great help in Hardcore, as it gives you good protection against LEBs. Cast a few layers between you and the LEB and you got some solid protection. Yes your minions do attack the bonewall but the best you can do is wait till your minions surround the LEB and then "wall-up" Kentarre acheung@alpha-one.com |

Disregard the naysayers on this one- Bone Wall is the ultimate defensive maneuver in a Necro's arsenal. No other skill in the game can compare to the degree of control you can exercise over the field with it. (Well, except Bone Prison ) Many Necros complain that Bone Armor does not block magic attacks- guess what does? That's right, if you're feeling down because those Oblivion Knights are giving you a hard time, simply set up a Bone Wall in front of you, summon a golem near them and commence artillery support. Of course, that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Bone Wall strategy. Worried about that pesky Diablo/Duriel/Mephisto/Whatever running all over and smooshing your pasty necromantic rump? Spam accordingly with Bone Wall or Bone Prison! It's also great for separating monsters into manageable chunks or thinning crowds, which is something you may or may not want according to how your Necro is built. To use it "correctly", simply think to yourself "in which situations would I benefit from having an instant wall in front of myself that blocks monsters and their projectile attacks?" Then cast accordingly. It is true that minions will attack it, but you should be able to recast a golem into a group of enemies and get new minions that way- if you can't, then Bone Wall should be used primarily as an emergency defensive procedure. Of course, as a Necro, Bone Wall gives you the power to re-create the playing field in a manner of your choosing, so it's best to have a conscience before you go spamming WPs or blocking hapless Amazons and Paladins in a corner. Have fun, –Chapsy |

You DO get exp, as long as it gives exp in the first place. (unlike maggot youngs, flesh things, etc). You can check this by opening your char screen an see if the numbers go up. The only smaller problem is that (supposedly) Act end bosses like Duriel, etc. might not uberdrop. But AFAIK, I seldom got any rares or uniques from Duriel. I only got a Heavenly Garb once using by Bowazon, the rest of my chars didn't get any. I CAN get rares from Duriel (the first few times I wasn't prepared to switch to Amp Dmg and Duriel suicided) using this method. But does that mean that uniques can also drop? But just in case, this problem can be easily rectified by switching to Amp dmg or LR just before (whatever monster) kills itself and use BS or BS to finish them off. Put it this way, if it works for your golem, it will work for your bone wall/prison. Bonewalls/prisons and minions don't really mix. Golems mostly attack bonewalls/prisons as a priority target. Real smart, Blizz. Now I know that Clay, Blood, Iron and Fire are "relatives" to Bones. |

ok well first i do remember reading somewhere you dont get experiance if a monster kills himself on a wall or cage well i usually use wall and cage to kill andy and duri i cage up the door to andy's lounge and hit her with im, shes never touched me. durial i cage and im till hes just about dead then i cast amp dmg(no reason for this but gets rid of im) if he kills himself or is killed by a minion or wall he will not drop any uniques =\ so i finash him off with a few spears or spirits it is actually useful in pvp nothing like trapping a pali in a cage so to sum it up
1: useful for andy 2: semi-useful for duri 3:Entertaining in pvp |

My advice is for hardcore necros only! Bone wall is almost an absolute MUST. First of all, almost all high level necros party with a sorcy to do countless and endless chaos runs. With Bone wall, not only can you protect yourself from ranged attacks but can also protect your ally as well, allowing faster levelling. Since we play hardcore, we need strong built characters. We don't have the luxury of "never put points in vitality" type characters. Since our death is permanent, any skill that gives you an increase chance of not dieing is a priority. Bone wall does just that. A huge killer of characters are lightning enchanted monsters, or even worse, multishot lightning enchanted monsters. With bonewall, you can negate or minimize this threat. Bone wall gets stronger in hell (as it scales up) so it can take a few bolts. You can always stack bone walls so that if one breaks, another one will be up so you don't take the risk of getting hit with straying bolts of lightning. If partied with a sorcy, the sorcy can confidently stand behind the wall and static away. It's a win-win situation for just 1 little point! ********************* Account name: K-29 Email: k-29@mybc.com *********************
