The Seven Wonders of the WoW World
World of Warcraft News
Written by MongoJerry
Wednesday, 26 October 2005

Savaughn asks fellow Lurkers:

Pretend you are a tourist and you're vacationing in Azeroth (the planet, not the continent). You have to pick your top 7 touristy sites to visit. They could be a city or place you want to visit, a monster you wish to see, a brilliant monument, etc.  What's your top 7 "must see" sites in WoW?

Find out what other Lurkers think the Seven Wonders of the WoW World should be in Savaughn's Lurker Lounge thread, and then post your own nominations!

Minor Patch Issued Today
World of Warcraft News
Written by MongoJerry
Tuesday, 25 October 2005

A minor patch was issued today to fix a few bugs and terrain exploits.  Battlemasters were also supposed to be able to exchange old pre-1.8 patch resource crates for the newer battleground marks of honor.  However, an issue arose with that, so that feature will be added next week, according to Blizzard.  Here are the patch notes:

Battlegrounds
  • Certain geometry exploits in Arathi Basin have been fixed.
Items
  • The tooltip on the Lightforged Blade has been updated to correctly show its minimum level requirement of 47 and its Bind on Acquire status.
User Interface
  • Fonts should once again display properly.
  • Fixed bug preventing UI scripting error messages from wrapping.
  • Fixed per-character saved variables for non-English character names.

As If Paladins and Shamans Need Buffing
World of Warcraft News
Written by MongoJerry
Thursday, 13 October 2005

Paladins will be getting their talent makeover in the 1.9 patch, according to Eyonix:

We are currently reviewing each of the three Paladin talent trees, along with conducting a comprehensive review to their Seal and Judgment system. What we're keeping in mind during these reviews primarily concerns healing speed, cost and efficiency, along with DPS control and burst damage. In addition, we're looking into Aura versatility and Blessing duration. When we have more information on the specifics of change, we'll post the information for everyone to view.

If Blizzard keeps to their recent trend, that means that paladins will go from grossly overpowered to obscenely overpowered, and all characters whose talents haven't been upgraded will be left in the dust.  So, the Horde will have to deal with this until they get their shaman buff some time in the future, which they will, according to Eyonix:

I'm not sure what you're quoting specifically, but Shaman talents aren't considered to be in a state least demanding of our attention, and more than likely won't come last on our review schedule. While improvements we make to their talents would certainly create the "OMG BLIZZ BUFFED SHAMAN!!!!111" threads, there are in-fact a number of areas concerning their talents which are in need of improvement, primarily those which would benefit the PvE aspect of the game.

Having a level 60 Shaman myself that focuses on high end raids, I can attest that a number of talents are lacking. In our efforts to make available to each of the nine classes - multiple viable talent options to choose from, we will be addressing Shaman talents some point in the near future, despite any misconception that they aren't in need of improvement.

And that begs the question, "So which class will be last?"  My money's on Warlocks, since they're always last

New Race!

Thursday, 13 October 2005
I'm having trouble locating the original post, but several sites (who annoyingly don't link to the original source) are reporting that players will be given a chance to play a new race in a brand new starting area at BlizzCon.  Will the new race be Pandas, High Elves, Nagas, Murlocs, Furbolgs, or some race not even in the game yet at all?  We'll have to wait and see.

A 1.9 Preview
World of Warcraft News
Written by MongoJerry
Friday, 07 October 2005

As spotted by oldmandennis, Tigole has posted a preview of the raid dungeons that will be included in the 1.9 patch:

We're busy working on Patch 1.9. Patch 1.9 is going to be one of our biggest content updates to date featuring not one, but two raid zones. The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (20 person raid zone) will be on par with Zul'Gurub in difficulty, perhaps slightly harder (but not by much). The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (40 person raid zone) is absolutely massive, and will be around the same difficulty level of Blackwing Lair. Some of the earlier monsters in the 40 person area might be slightly easier than BWL but as guilds progress to the end, they'll find a zone on par with BWL.

Check out oldmandennis's Lurker Lounge thread to find out what fellow lurkers think of the upcoming changes.
