After receiving some wildly good news regarding their upcoming class changes, rogues are now having to absorb the shock of losing some of the changes they thought were coming (thanks to Quark for noticing these posts). First, it turns out that Expose Armor will still not stack with Sunder Armor after the patch, according to Drysc: I know that I had hinted at specific functionality, and I take that mistake upon myself for making statements based on information which was not final and/or fully intended. Expose Armor will not stack with Sunder Armor in 1.12.
The changes to make it perform as a percentage is still intended, and it should now give a pretty nice boost against high-armor targets versus the current Expose Armor functionality.
Second, it was decided that Rupture and Eviscerate will not be changed to make them scale with items. Rupture was found to be performing at-par to where we want it to be and will not be changed. While there was certainly some intention initially (and why it was included in my post) to improve or change how it functioned, after careful study it has been decided to not change the Rupture ability. I know that may be a dissapointment, but after careful study, no change was necessary.
Eviscerate is being improved by a new book, allowing a new rank and a general base-damage increase.
Garotte is receiving a damage boost. While final numbers are still unavailable, we are shooting for an approximate 50% damage increase. |

Which Came First? Blizzard or the Easter Egg? |

Which came first? Blizzard or the Easter Egg? As we all know, Blizzard loves to incorporate pop culture references into their games, and World of Warcraft is by no means an exception. There are the obvious references like Sprok, Chief Engineer Scooty, and Jhordy Lapforge who operate various goblin transporters. But when Razzereign from the Amazon Basin linked this site with ten pages filled with pop culture references, I was taken aback by both the number and variety of pop culture references and easter eggs there are in the game. Trebek from the Amazon Basin followed up with this similar list hosted by Wikipedia. |

Some warrior abilities as well as aspects of rage generation and management may see some changes soon, possibly as early as 1.12: Seeing as the shaman review has moved into patch 1.11, this merely increases the possibility of bringing some more focused attention on the warrior talents. If all we are left with is Rogues in 1.12, with the strong likelyhood of a 1.13 patch, we are looking at some space for the class designers to work with.
With regards to TM, no one has forgotten about the community's desire. The idea still stands that they would like to look at more, different rage management techniques or talents, rather than making TM a trained ability. Of course, that may change, as it did with other talent/abilities. It's still on the table, your concerns and theirs.
As it stands, the devs are looking into rage generation changes in the present. I am not sure of the exact nature of the changes, but it was a task I saw assigned. If I had to guess, I would say that changes of this nature might show up in 1.12. So, versitility of rage generation might preclude the necessity of TM. |

Travel in WoW Unlikely to Change |

According to Drysc, there is unlikely to be much if any change to make it faster for players to travel from one point to another: [Travel in World of Warcraft] is actually extremely quick compared to other games in the same genre. There should always be a feeling that you're in a world, that your travel means something in relation to the size of that world. In World of Warcraft that sense of travel is reduced about as far as we are willing to go in order to make travel as inconsequential as possible. However, keeping some sense of the world in perspective is important. I realize that from a player point of view you think it would be great to sit in Ironforge and have every mob and quest NPC you need spawn right next to you at your whim, but oddly enough that would make the game less fun and engaging.
You may think you want convenience, but convenience works to remove challenge, and challenges are what make games fun.
One of the longest flights in the game is just over 10 minutes (many just a few minutes if not less). Now whether you choose to sit and stare at the back of a gryphon for those 10 minutes, or get up and do something, is up to you. |

PvP Honor System Revision in Expansion |

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the PvP Honor System will be revised. The bad news is that we will have to wait until the expansion to see it, according to Nethaera: The PvP Honor System is being looked at and is being updated in the expansion pack. There will also be many more 5 man and 10 man dungeons in the expansion as well. The team is aware of people's feelings on the 'grind' and are working on ways to alleviate that feeling.
In another post, Nethaera says that the current PvP Honor system curve will be altered to make it easier for more people to obtain the higher ranks. I can't go into details about the changes that are coming other than I can say that the Honor Curve is going to be adjusted to be more forgiving and that the evaluation of the changes for the expansion are ongoing. Things as they are now will not always be. Details will have to come later on when we learn of them and are free to release them. |

Small Group Content in the Burning Crusade |

Tseric revealed today that there will be much more end-game content designed for small groups in the expansion and that a battleground match-making mechanism that will take gear into account is being designed. Some highlights: ...Because everyone is progressing through levels and gear. At the end-game of 70, there will be more small group dungeons (5,10 and 20) than there will be raid dungeons. As such, the gear obtainable only through 40-person raiding will be smaller, compared to gear accessible through small group dungeons... ...Look. The old raider/non-raider debate boils down to two fields: Character progression and competition.
This could also be simplified in a PvE/PvP comparison.
Why does a gear gap matter in each?
PvE: Accessible content allows players to keep playing the game and advancing their character. New dungeons, new rewards. However, the actual gear disparity does not affect this at all. It makes no difference if a player has better gear than you when it comes to content available for you or quests you want to do or what have you. In short, the e-peen envy does not play a part here. New content in this area is really what will appease matters and, as I said, we are interested in having more small-group activity and the majority of dungeons slated are aimed toward this end.
PvP: Gear disparity comes in to play here. This is really what makes the whole issue hot and bothered. This can be dealt with in many ways. One of those ways is having a match-making system with BGs that takes more into account than simply level brackets. This is something we are working on. Will it solve all of our players worldly concerns? I don't know, seeing into the future is tricky business.
Is all gear disparity going to be wiped out? I would venture to say no, but that wasn't the question. The words of the OP were if it was going to be lessened or was it widening. With dungeon content at end-game, we are aiming to give players something to do, which sort of takes priority over making sure everybody feels good about the number of epics they have. These issues usually tend to come up when players have nothing to do.
So, to answer directly, "end-game content" means what players will be doing when the level cap has been reached. We expect to have more to do at endgame than previously/now for players who like smaller groups. Is some guy gonna be decked out in purples? expected. Is it going to matter as much to your average player? Not if they've got content enough to not care or if BGs are grouped differently. |
