LemmingofGlory's Guide to Diablo
Diablo News
Written by Bolty

It's Friday.  Need a laugh?  Try LemmingofGlory's Guide to Diablo, posted on the Asylum Message Board.  It's a hilarious spoof on strategy guides and common misinformation about Diablo.
D2 Strat Section Born
Diablo II News

To strat, or not to strat.  That is the question I've been facing as of late.  Whether 'tis nobler to publish strat now, knowing that it will become out of date rather quickly and suffer the removal of it or modification of it in the future, or to wait for months to pass after the release of Diablo II?  I've chosen the former (and the really poor Shakespeare reference).  The Diablo II Strategy section is born today with its first article, The Protectorate Paladin.

has written the guide on a playing style for the Paladin character which doesn't delve too deeply into the specifics of skill trees, since they change so much in current builds.  It's a good read if you've been pondering which character class to start out with.

Diablo: The Calling Update

GameSpot will have the cinematic Diablo: The Calling on their website exclusively on Friday to download, if you have a high speed line.  If not, 40 megabytes can be a tough download.
Diablo II In the News

Diablo II information is flying fast lately.  "Closed" characters are now "Realm" characters, a name that not only sounds better, but is more descriptive, since Realm characters are confined to an individual realm.

Diabloii.Net reports they've learned from Susan Wooley, PR lady of Blizzard, that the cinematic movie Diablo: the Calling will be available at the Blizzard website soon in full Bink format glory.  This short movie was previously shown in a movie theater in California only.  There are ripped versions of the movie out, but they aren't worth the download, in my opinion.

Last of all, Diabloii.Net once again reported something interesting recently.  When the team traveled to Blizzard North in December to get some early play time with Diablo II, they noted that the readme.txt file of the game was "full of general 'how to' info, as well as where to report bugs, how to view the game Seed display, full controls info, and much more."  Visible game Seed displays?  It makes me wonder how forthcoming Blizzard will be about inner game information in Diablo's sequel, thus saving fans time spent discovering the secrets and quirks for themselves.  Thanks to for giving me a heads up.

Beta test a new mod, that is (ok, I know, I'm a jerk).  Dybrar is looking for a Few Good Men (and women) to help him perfect a new mod which doesn't even have a name yet.  Head on over to the Untitled Mod forum if you're interested in participating in a mod from the ground up.

Yes, to answer many questions I've been getting, I will be providing lots of information and my beta experiences throughout the testing period.  Naturally, what I'll provide in terms of game information can only be peanuts compared to the big diablo*.com/org/net sites out there with large staffs.  Instead, I'll be putting up articles about my experiences in the game and tell things from a "DSF perspective," if there is such a thing.

No, there is no witty, urbane headline today.  Two things: first off, seem never pleased with their work as they release version 3.3 of Hellfire: The Dark.

*Cough*  YAY!   <End immature hand-waving>  Details later, when I have some spare time.

The Diablo II Links collection has been born.  Not much to look at right now, I'd admit, but it'll naturally be growing in the next few weeks.  If you want to start building your own personal set of links for Diablo II pages, I recommend a comprehensive links site you may not have heard of yet called D2Links.com.  They literally have hundreds of links to popular news sites, forums, guilds, and much more.

Blizzard Beta FAQ Updated

Blizzard updated their Beta FAQ once again today.  One interesting tidbit is that Hardcore mode will be supported in the beta, once testers defeat the Act 1 boss, Andariel.  Diablo II information will be posted to this site, of course, in various Diablo II sections coming soon.
Goodbye, Armin

Through a Rogue's Eyes

The Lurker Lounge sends its heartiest "hello" to the newest member of the Diablo Strategy Webring, Through a Rogue's Eyes - The Definitive Diablo Site.  Welcome to the club!  What's the site about?
This site has been developed from the point of view of a rogue player and thus caters to a gaming style that is for the rogue. Why the rogue? Unlike the warrior and sorcerer the rogue is the only character that demands total concentration no matter what level you may be at or what expertise you may have. The rogue is a character that is flawed with weaknesses which force a gamer to not only play smart but be decisive in how she is to be played.

And don't miss the site's detailed instructions on how to get to the famed Cow Level.  :-)
