REFLECTIONS (5/19/2006)

The Core has killed Chromaggus (and Nefarian) dozens of times since this journal was written, and there are a few things not mentioned in the above writeup.

  • We now tank Chromaggus on the ramp in Flamegor's room.  The main tank healers heal from below while the dps attacks Chromaggus from above.  The idea of getting out of line of sight of Chromaggus at the appropriate times is the same, though.
  • Chromaggus has another "breath" attack called Time Lapse that causes anyone in line of sight of him to be stunned for several seconds and temporarily lose all aggro.  The main tank is in line of sight of him, of course, so that means that Chromaggus will charge at whoever has the most aggro who was not Time Lapsed.  Our guild has a couple of warriors who build up secondary aggro and who run out of line of sight of Chromaggus a few seconds before the Time Lapse goes off.  Chromaggus runs after them, but by the time he catches up to them the Time Lapse wears off the main tank, so Chromaggus turns right back around to attack the main tank.  Many people consider Time Lapse the easiest breath, because dps classes don't have to dodge it, but from a tanking/healing point of view, it's slightly more complicated and nervewracking.
