A TERRIBLE PRICE

Image

After donning her brand new Bloodsail uniform, Neriad visited each goblin town in turn.  She had heard that the goblins were offering ways for Bloodsail pirates to get back into their good graces, but she suspected that there was a catch.  Running into the "Bloodsail Traitor" outside of Booty Bay only heightened her concerns.

Image

The nameless Bloodsail Traitor says that Baron Revilgaz will pardon Bloodsail pirates who turn in bandannas supposedly taken off the bodies of dead Bloodsail Buccaneers.  Neriad was being asked to kill her own kind!  But no, this Bloodsail Traitor hadn't sold out his mates quite that far.  Instead, he offered to make Neriad replicas of the bandannas if she would provide 40 silk cloth and 4 bottles of red dye.

When Neriad turned in the required silk and bottles of red dye, the Bloodsail Traitor called for a mock moment of silence for his "fallen mates."  Despite the fact that no Bloodsail pirates had actually died, Neriad lost 500 reputation points with the Bloodsail Buccaneers while gaining 500 reputation points with Booty Bay and 250 spillover reputation points with the other three goblin factions.  The reputation gain with the goblin factions would be incredibly quick, but the faction loss with the Bloodsail Buccaneers would be equally fast.  No one worthy of wearing the prized Bloodsail Admiral's Hat would dare do something that his or her mates would find as distasteful as this.  Anyone who tries to buy their reputations back with Booty Bay like this indeed deserves the nameless title of "Bloodsail Traitor."

The same pattern was repeated at Everlook.  This time, it was a goblin named Bronn Fitzwrench who offered an easy way out of being Hated with Everlook and the rest of the Steamwheedle Cartel.

"You must've done something really bad to us or our friends, Neriad," he says.  What's a dead goblin girl among friends, right?  Oh, and there was that trivial matter of killing Barron Revilgaz.  Water under the bridge, right?  Well, Fitzwrench wants 40 runecloth and 4 pieces of coal to help the folks at Everlook stay warm.

"You're on a quick path to redeeming yourself with our fair town," Fitzwrench says.  Yes, and Neriad is also on the quick path to losing the respect of the Bloodsail Buccaneers.  Like the similar Booty Bay quest, Neriad lost 500 reputation points with the Bloodsail Buccaneers while gaining 500 reputation with Everlook and 250 spillover reputation points with the other goblin factions of the Steemwheedle Cartel.
