Post funny/stupid things, and undocumented changes here...

#1: Anyone who logged out last night with a Flask of Distilled Wisdom buff on them got +2000 Int upon logging in. The patch changes the flask to a +int bonus (from a +mana bonus), but it didn't "recalculate" the number. So you're basically godlike for however long your flask timer is remaining...

#2: Rolling restarts just issued to fix disappearing items. Seems this happens every other patch or so.

#3: Apparently it is difficult to target mobs on the far side of a wall now.

It wasn't just disappearing items. It was items that were duplicating as well. smile.gif

I made 10 elixir of major agility for my hunter on my alchemist (got a discovery doing it too). I mailed them.

I took them out on my hunter, when I zoned to get my pets respeced, I had 24 in my inventory (my 4 old ones, the 10 I got from the mail and 10 more). when I zoned back to Shatt I had 34 and 10 extra buzzard meat as well.

The extra pots were removed by the rolling restart. As soon as I saw that some of my items were duping themselves I knew a restart was going to happen because it meant someone was going to figure out how to control that duping that was going on for me by accident.

Unverified, but:

Surge of Light bug. If you activate Inner Focus after getting Surge of Light, all spells will be free until Surge of Light fades away. Because Inner Focus gives spells 25% more crit, there's a very big chance to get another Surge of Light and have the effect continue. So theoretically, if you have 75% (+25% from Inner Focus) chance to crit, you should be able heal with endless mana after getting one Surge of Light proc.

Good times. Reminds me a bit of the Divine Spirit bug a few months back where a Priest could cast Divine Spirit for free all they liked because it wouldn't remove Inner Focus after casting. Useful for buffing in raids.

This is Blizzard's new LookingForGroup channel that only appears when you're using the LFG interface (/lfg). I've heard you can use the interface and then /leave the channel to reset your channel order, but I just moved my channels back by one anyway. I wish I didn't have to use the /lfg tool to see this channel.

Tip: if you use the same chat channel setup for multiple characters (positioning, colors, the works), you can copy the chat-cache.txt file from one "good" character to all the others.

Another tip: if you're seeing weird/buggy effects with items and item tooltips, clear out your cache files in your /cache/WDB/enUS folder under WoW.

In other news, repair costs have gone up for those with upgraded gear from the patch (epics), since the items have become more powerful. Heads up.

That was what I thought it was but no combination of leaves and un-checks could make it go away. I ended up doing "/leave lurkers" since few people ever use that channel and it was my first channel so it backed the others down. Good tip on the chat-cache.txt file. I just looked inside it today to see if there was some hidden line there but it didn't dawn on me that the file could be copied to duplicate it to other toons. I might have to do that because I still want to try to get rid of the hidden channel. It irritates me that they limit the number of channels and then insist on stealing one of them.

That rotten channel bugged me to no end. I am in 7 different channels normally (no trade, no general, no local or world defense channels) on all my characters. I've got them setup to show different colors and they've been the same numbers for probably over a year now. That damned hidden channel threw all of that off. I looked through the chatcache after I logged, and there was the LFG channel supposedly at the bottom, but the game forces it to number 1 slot instead. I manually removed it via chatcache, but it was still reserved in game. I couldn't just do my normal copy and paste because it wasn't showing up properly via chatcache either. I had unchecked the lfg channel by doing a rightclick on the chatwindow and taking it out that way, but it was still reserving that spot. I did the /leave lookingforgroup with it unchecked, still reserved. The only way that I could get rid of it was my popping open the lfg panel, selecting a dungeon (or a zone for the two characters who were only 10 and 11), and then typing /leave lookingforgroup. Just copying the chatcache over from one character that I had setup that way didn't work. I had to do it for every character, which annoyed me greatly, but at least I have my channels the way they're supposed to be now.

I've got this macro set up on two of my G15 keys, one for the kodo, the other for the windrider. The kodo macro I've had running flawlessly since the /dismount command was added (I think it was 1.12).

Yesterday I did a fair amount of pre-patch playing, and I was using either macro to dismount from my current mount, and it worked fine. Now, for some reason when I dismount using the "other" macro (i.e. Using the kodo to dismount from a windrider), I dismount and then try and mount up on the mount I pressed.

The functionality that the Insert and delete keys (permanent pitch change when flying or swimming) has been removed from the game as best as I can tell. They added that the sit command will make you do a temporary straight down while swimming/flying so it's the opposite of the space bar, but there appear to be no keybindings to do a permanent pitch change.

This annoys me because I'll start flying somewhere and get food or read forums or do something else and being able to tweak pitch with the autorun going without the mouse was rather nice. Now I have to use the mouse to make any permanent pitch changes.

Need to test this further, but at least according to the LCS Divine Spirit/Spiritual Guidance seems messed up. Anyone else seen this?

My renew was ticking for 682 w/o DS... 699 with. I should get .25 * 50 +heal from my extra 50 spirit, but it looks like I am getting more out of it than I should.

I didn't have time to test this properly but I seem to have been buffed more than I expect.

edit: Oh, and the armory totals are correct (or at least match in-game), but the mouseovers for the items still have the old unbuffed stats.

I see from the Armory that you have improved divine spirit.

In that case, you get 25% of 50 from SG, and 10% of 50 from imp DS, for a total of 17.5, which is equal to 699-682.

Yes. Which is totally wrong. The total of the +heal should be spread out among all the ticks of the renew, not applied to each individual tick.

Oh, right. I suspect the real answer is related to Improved DS though. With Imp DS, you will gain +healing from all of your spirit, not just the additional 50. This amount may be further modified by Improved Renew and Spiritual Healing. The math gets a bit complex then but it seems enough to bump up each tick of the Renew by 17ish (85 total).

That's because it automatically dismounts whenever you try to perform an action which you can't perform mounted (which apparently includes using a different mount). You can turn it off in the Interface options.

Shadowfiends were given the power to be controlled directly by the Priest. They are now official pets with their own pet bar.

One ugly side effect is that when you summon one, it arrives in defensive mode and needs to be ordered to attack. Sure, if you get hit by something it will "defend" you and attack, but you may lose valuable seconds where the Shadowfiend stands around doing nothing.

Use this macro:

#showtooltip Shadowfiend
/cast [nopet] Shadowfiend
/petaggressive
/petattack

And Shadowfiend will work mostly like it did before - attack the target you cast it on. Difference is that now it'll keep attacking it instead of randomly wandering off onto another target, like my dumbass Shadowfiend did once against the Curator. "Oh look, a shiny Arcane Flare! Sure, Cleoboltra told me to attack the Curator, but why attack this evocating Curator guy when I can attack something way stronger?"

Ah I see what you're getting at. So with my 436 spirit (acc to armory), that would be +44 to healing with DS, and then add in around 50/4 = 12 for spiritual guidance incrementally with it on (it's a little more complicated but the end result is about the same).

It still seems to be a bit more than what I should be getting but that's getting closer.

If a Priest casts Shadowfiend such that the current target (or group of targets) dies before the Shadowfiend's 15 seconds of life are over, the Priest screwed up anyway.

In other words, I wouldn't be using a Shadowfiend such that it would have the opportunity to aggro more adds, so that would never come into play. I want all 15 seconds worth of regen it provides, because that's so incredibly valuable.

I'm actually asking because I want to use it with my water elemental. It is annoying that it doesn't always catch the first click to attack and stands there with its hands in its pockets. I just don't want it running off and grabbing adds before I can stop it.

Prayer of Mending now has a transit graphic: when you cast it on someone, a holy bolt flies from you to them. Also whenever it bounces to a new target, the holy bolt animation goes to them and the "ding" casting sound plays again. This is kind of cool but the sound can be rather repetitive.

No. The sound is perfect. The sound is glorious. I now live for this sound. It's the sweetest sound there is, hearing go "DING!" around the raid as it bounces. I was practically giggling with glee on our Curator kill last night listening to the glorious dings as it jumped around our Astral Flare-killing melee. It was even more fun with Netherspite, because you could then see the bolts flying around.

For the first time ever, I get to pew pew. I get to shoot bolts of holy power at someone and watch them bounce around to my group/raidmates. Misdirect is broken in the patch.

QUOTE
This is a bug introduced with 2.1. Its very easy to reproduce. The bug is that only 2 out of the 3 shots will misdirect to your designated target. IF you shoot off the 3rd shot then ALL the aggro from the 3 total will go to the Hunter.

The only current workaround is for the hunter to shoot 2 times and stop, cancel the buff quickly, and resume DPS.

Try it on your pet. Shoot all 3 and watch the mob go right after you. Or, shoot twice and see it go to the pet.

That... That sucks. We probably won't see another patch for another fortnight, and Misdirection is a key hunter raiding skill. Probably the only reason hunters get invited to raids these days.

Apparently, the bug was identified three weeks ago on the PTR, and yet still went live.

Edit: Continuing the theme of bugs, I decide to run a few quests. Showdown, and I Was A Lot of Things....

Big mistake.

I solo Showdown pretty well. Rexxar and his menagerie make a pretty good tank team. I'm not sure if keeping Rexxar alive is a requirement of the quest, but the one time I actually did manage to kill Goc (Complete with kiting and "oh#$%&thisistheonlydirectionavailabletometoruntoandthereisanelitemobinthedamnway") I didn't get the kudos. Which sucked. Especially considering the trouble we've been having with this quest (Prior to the server restarts/patch Rexxar was spawning on the other side of Gruul's Lair and getting stuck on a spire of rock leaving everyone twiddling their thumbs in embarassment in the middle of a stuck scripted sequence), I think I deserve my damn Malefactor's Eyepatch. But noooooooo.

And as for I Was A Lot Of Things... Kept blowing the whistle with boars in earshot, and the damn things weren't shifting. The mounds were then disappearing (By design, apparently). After about half an hour running this quest, I had collected a grand total of zero tubers. Once, a boar spawned right next to a mound when I blew a whistle and died instantly.

I'm afraid to quest now. There's no telling what they've screwed up.
Alrin
Several times now on my flying mount I randomly get booted from the game, log back in immediately after and watch myself falling to my death for no apparent reason.

Unless you now get automatically dismounted whenever you logout, but that sounds a bit too far-fetched. It is REALLY annoying when trying to get to a raid or a long flight and you keep dying. ( I had to spirit rez twice today because my corpse was on an inaccessible spot as a ghost ).

Pre-patch you could complete this quest (if Rexxar wasnt already stuck) by running up to the totem in front of Goc as soon as you summoned him. That would prevent Rexxar from getting stuck. Afaik in order to get credit for the quest you need to either do more damage than Rexxar and his friends or let Rexxar die and get the killing shot (neither of which I could do solo). It wouldnt surprise me if it is still bugged though, it has been that way for many months.

The result is that when the mob reaches its aggro leash range, instead of heading back to its home postion, it will then head back to the miner. This happened to me yesterday when someone pulled a train across me when I was mining a node in a cleared out area, I ended up with their entire train coming after me when it should have been snapping back.

Why did Blizzard feel this change was necessary? Seems just sadistic to me. And it removes one of the benefits of a flying mount / flight form. Many the time that I have landed on a node, mined it, and flown off without disturbing the local fauna.
