normalizing voices in ventrilo - LochnarITB - 07-04-2010

Sabra asked me to post this link during the last Lurkers Stormrage raid.

Ventrilo Normalization

It worked great for me.

Note, if you have multiple vent servers, you have to do this with each server.

Sadly this doesn't work 100% of the time on all servers. Some people have their settings adjusted poorly on their computer and can fall through the cracks leading them to be either really quiet or so loud they clip. I might give it another try, but I had a ton of problems last time I tried this and ended up having to manually adjust people anyway.

On a related note, is there some voice modulation software available that can change one's voice to something (fe)male, darth vader, evil overlord, etc? For my online RPG group, in case you wonder.

I thought you would have googled it, which would have led you to this and this and this. Better? Tongue

RE: normalizing voices in ventrilo - Crusader - 07-19-2010

Why would I Google something if I can ask it here and get a reply after a week? :p

RE: normalizing voices in ventrilo - Zich - 07-19-2010

I used the setting in the guideline for vent. It definitely brought the quite voices up, but the louder voices/sounds get a lot of static when they are 'normalized'. I could tweak individually, but that would defeat the purpose of this experiment Tongue.

Does anyone know which setting might help remove the static?

Louder voices were clear before, but I'm not so technical on the sound issues, so I'm not sure which setting to toy with to fix that, even though the guide gives a good idea what each slider does. I could google it, but I too am a fan of the wait-a-week approach!

The original link is gone, so here's one that should stick around:
