Edit: And if I recall correctly, they look at the first name given on the list. If that's not appropriate, then they look at the next name on the list. It's not just random - they give preference to the names in the order they are listed. Well, initially, they'll throw a random name on there, but that's just until they hear back from you about what other names you want.
