transferring characters b/w comps

Hello.
It has been a while since I posted here...
After a long hiatus, I got the craving for Diablo again, and would like to know how I can transfer characters. I read the instructions on this site, but the links to Kevin's Diablobackup and Stu's Trainer are down. Also, on my old comp, I run version 1.09. On this one (the new comp) I have not installed Diablo yet. What is the best way to move my characters from my old computer, to this one?

Hi,

If memory serves, Blizzard did away with all that computer naming nonsense in one of the final patches (1.07, 8, or 9). So simply install and upgrade Diablo on the new computer, then copy over all your *.sv files. Simple as that, IIRC.
