Naked Maging as played by Lochnar[ITB] ITB = In The Buff As a follower of the naked way, let me explain the "rules" as have been discussed here before. Naked means naked - no armor, weapons or jewelry. This is nice for a couple of reasons. It is fun to play in open BNet. You will see a lot of "cheater" quips thrown your way. Then that person dies and can't get their stuff back so you go in and rescue them. That tends to impress some folks. Another nice thing is not having to worry about item recoveries. Although they are generally a walk in the park for a sorcerer anyway, it is nice to just go on from where you were without being locked into the attempt. Playing that way also hones your skills because you can't let the baddies get close as it is almost certain stunlock if you do start to get whacked. There are two exceptions that people use, one I do and one I don't. Some people allow reading glasses for reading the 255 books - put the item(s) on to read the book and then take them off immediately. This one I don't use. The other exception is the weapon. If you don't have a weapon in your hand you run into the automatic equip that happens when picking up weapons. It gets annoying. The way to negate this annoyance (sorry, I forgot who suggested it) is to equip a weapon you don't have the strength to use. You do this by putting on a piece of jewelry that ups your strength and then take it off once it is equipped. The item turns red but stays in place so you don't automatically pick anything else up. The best choice is a great big axe. This is because, even though the item is deactivated, you still get the 1.5x damage bonus for blunts or swords when punching (in the rare case when you do feel like boxing a nose or two), even though the item is disabled. That's it. It's a little easier than a BNM because you don't have to deal with finding cursed items and the associated problems of repairing them, etc. In fact, following an MK, a BNM is actually promoted to the ranks of the naked mages until he gets his goodies back.
