Races versus Classes
#1
I took some time to look at the startins stats of each race. It seems they are always the same regardless of gender and class. However, they DO vary with race. Since different stats are of different importance to different chars, picking the "right" combination could be of some improtance if one want to maximize ones ability (otherwise one just pick a cool combination). For example, intelligence, which determines your mana, is a complete waste to a warrior since they don't use man, while stamine, which increases mana and healt regeneration speed, is basically of need to all classes. So picking a warrior, one would want a race that has as low intelligence as possible (since total starting stat points are the same) but as high value as possible in good stats (strength although it is a low cost , see below, and a high stamina might be better since it costs a lot). Tauren with a starting strength of 25 (highest of all, intelligence of 20 (lowest of all) and stamina at 23 is really a very good warrior race. On the other hand, a gnome with a strength of 20 (lowest of all) an intelligence of 24 (highest of all) will really make a poor 8or at least worse) warrior. Similar argumentation can be done for other classes and races.

Also, with the new patch, some new things were introduced. Stats are now increased with skill points that one earn while fighting. every now and then, one gain a skill point. Those are then invested in stats. The base cost to increase a stat one point is 2 skill points. For the stat(s) that is of importance to the class, the cost is 1 (importance as determined by Blizzard) and for those not so, the cost is 3. Also, the maximum value one can buy to, increases with your level and might also depend on class and or race. For example, my Orc could still not buy any stat points at level 3, despite having skill points. A Night Elf I started just to check stats, could allready at level 1 buy a stat point (don't remember in what stat). I really can't tell for sure when and depending on what the max value increases though.

In any case, if anyone is interested, here are the starting values:

Code:
          Agi  Int  Spi  Sta  Str
Tauren     19   20   22   23   25
Undead     19   23   24   23   20
Orc        20   22   23   22   22
Troll      20   20   24   22   23
Human      21   21   22   22   23
Dwarf      19   20  23   23   24
Night Elf  24   23   21   21   20
Gnome      22   24   22   21   20

Stat costs are summarized below.

Code:
          Low cost        High cost
Paladin    Sta             Agi
Warrior    Sta Str         Int Spi
Rogue      Agi             Int Spi

Shaman     Agi
Druid      Agi

Mage       Int Spi         Agi Str
Warlock    Int Spi         Agi Str
Priest     Int Spi         Agi Str

Shouldn't code give font with same width of all chars?
There are three types of people in the world. Those who can count and those who can't.
