"Seeking golem suggestions"

As I posted on the old forum (dead a few hours and it's already the old forum), I am developing a poison dagger necro. I intend to use only PD, curses, bone armor, and a golem. There seem to be several takes on the best golem to develop for this purpose; Iron to do real (thorns) damage, blood to keep me alive, fire to draw fire. Can anyone chime in on the pros and cons of each type?

Lots of hard hitting melee'ers? Iron golem.

Having trouble staying alive? Some melee attackers? BG+IM.

Need to draw fire away from yourself? Lots of ranged attackers?
Fire.

I prefer FG 100% of the time myself.

Omega gave some good advice. Here's one more thing for you. If you're playing a Poison Dagger Necromancer, I'm assuming you'll be investing in Lower Resist. Remember that by casting LR on an enemy and "detonating" a Fire Golem, you can do some massive damage. The guy's a walking bomb. =o)

I recently finished Normal difficulty with a HC melee-mancer, with poison dagger and poison explosion as my only skills. The first thing you should do is get a weapon that does cold damage. Then get a shield with the highest possible blocking rate you can find. With these two items, you won't have to worry about melee attackers much at all.

Since you're using curses, Dim Vision, Terror, Attract, and Confuse would take care of crowd control and ranged attackers. Add a pair of fast/faster run boots, (and lots of resist items, of course)and you won't need a golem at all.

Does anyone have the stats on the fire golem's explosion? Radius? Damage?
Also, does it scale with skill level?

5. "Fire Golem"
In response to message #4

I believe someone found a while back that Fire Golem does around 200 damage upon explosion (which seemed to remain constant, regardless of player number, difficulty, level, etc.), half fire, half physical. Someone want to back me up (or refute)?
