As lemekim said, I was referring to soloing. Farming instances isn't soloing.
That said, I guess I don't mind that much that the means for improving your character noticeably by soloing tends to be selling the crappy greens you get from the mobs you grind until you can afford to buy something nice from the AH. It's just kind of sad that I rarely experience the elation of finding a nice item to equip while soloing, and instead I find myself saying "ooh, that will sell nicely."
