Its not really the same.
Jimmy The Greek was fired because he focused on the unpleasanr subject of blacks being diferent than white because they were bread to be different - that leads to the even more unpleasant thought that if Blacks in genral are beeter athletes then maybe they are worse in genaral at whites in other areas.
Gumble on the other hand seemed to be making the point that these are the games where your wealth and where you grew up matter much more than your athletic prowess.
Gumble is right. Very little in the Winter Olympics is an true sport of athletes. Speed Skating, Cross Country Skiing and Hockey seems be real, but they are exceptions.
