Sorcerer and blocking?
#1
What defense does a sorcerer have if his hand are full weilding a staff, I seem to have no defense.

Is there a "block" button or something?

You can only block if you have are wielding a shield. There is topic a few threads down about it, labelled "Dex for Sorcerors" showing more indepth things into it.
"The axe? Aye, that's a good weapon, balanced against any foe. Look how it cleaves the air, and then, imagine a nice fat demon head in its path. Keep in mind, however, that it is slow to swing - but talk about dealing a heavy blow!"

For a sorcerer, the best defense is a good offense. Line your shots up carefully and kill each monster before it gets to you. Then you will never need to block.

There is no blocking with staves, unless you are playing a Hellfire monk. A sorcerer can block with a shield, but it takes so long (unless you have a fastblock shield) that you will wish he wasn't blocking.

Unless fighting a Fire Immune, maxing out Fire Bolt and Maxing out Guardian (pet dragon) allows you, to a certain extent, shoot around corners. :) Read any and all Firebolt books that you can find or buy, and get as much Guardian as you can get your hands on (that should increase duration, the Firebolt influences Guardian damage. )

Other things to consider: If you want to block, you need to have a "fast block" shield, but eventually, your limits on Dexterity will cap your blocking percentage.

Cast a Golem to draw fire (Max it if you can) and shoot your spells at the monsters who are mugging Rocky. (Your Golem.)

Enjoy, the Sorcerer, once you get up a few levels and can get your spells bumped up a few levels, can really lay the smack down on demons.
