How do I play .swf files that are on my Harddrive?
#1
See topic question:

I have Flash in my downloaded program files folder...but I can't select it to open the .swf files...

Any ideas?

I've tried quicktime, but I don't get any sound.

Thanks in advance.

Use your web browser to open it.

As LiquidDamage has said, you need to use your browser to open the file in order to view it.

Quicktime supports vector graphics animation, hense you were able to view the graphics using it.
Sound is handled differently, and Quicktime cannot play the sound in SWF files.

There is a standalone SWF player, but it's not publically avaliable, and is part of the package for FlashMX, the developer program.

Again, just use your browser, and as long as your plugin version is up-to-date, it should run fine.

My favorite solution: Go into your windows folder options (where it is depends on your version - in my Win98SE it's View | Folder Options, File Types tab. Set files with extension .swf to open in your web browser. Now all you need to do is double-click them from within Windows Explorer to run them
