I might just be misinterpreting things, but is the last part of this article implying that the police KNEW this event was going to go down ahead of time? Sounds like conspiracy theory to me reminiscent of "911 truthers". Thoughts?

The article also listed that a similar incident occurred recently too. The populace want these people (police, firemen, etc.) to be prepared. So the do training exercises on a regular to semi-regular basis. Often in as real of a location as they can get permission access to. My work location has at times been used for these types of exercises during off hours and days so that emergency response teams can get real practice in an actual working environment setting.

Overall sounds more like coincidence and journalism fluff piece to me.

More or less I agree. Such training probably has to take place on a regular basis as it would be utterly stupid for a police force to not train itself to be able to respond to a terrorist act or any crime in general. But then again, I guess this sort of logic doesn't garner as much popularity or ratings as conspiracy theories do. Who would have thought?

Yes, it is that time of year. Our campus just had our Run-Hide-Fight training day with full on pretend bad guys, volunteer victims, simulated blood, and screaming. I worked from home.
