Let's talk about torrent clients.

I've been using uTorrent 1.6 for years. I like it and it does what I want, but I can't help but wonder if there are better torrent clients around.

There's also Vuze (aka Azureus), if you want a torrent client that's also a media player, package manager and more. But if you don't want your torrent client doing all that, then stick to uTorrent, as it's the least resource hungry of all the torrnet clients (save the official client, which is just uTorrent reskinned).

Your question causes me to wonder why computer jargonmasters chose the word "client" to describe something like a torrent. In my decades at the bar, I was never privileged to represent a single one.

The term dates back to old computer systems where people connected to mainframes using dumb terminals. Since the terminals were making requests for services from the mainframe, they were labeled as 'clients.'
