Pack Mule Caravan
#1
Has anyone found any information or experienced the saving of this caravan firsthand? The dwarven NPC Stonebruiser says the caravan leaves a couple times a day. I've manage to see it attempt to leave twice... only to be ambushed just outside Argent Dawn territory and taken down. It seems if a single Pack Mule goes down, the caravan can not go through.

I'd like to get some people together to help it through and see what happens, but the timing is an issue. Hard to organize people just to sit around and wait.

Is there a quest that is available if the caravan reaches its destination? There seems to be a new NPC in Booty Bay that may be involved...

I've been curious about that caravan, too. Any information would be appreciated!

Any idea how often the caravan leaves or what triggers it to leave?

Out of curiosity has anyone here turned in a craftsman's writ quest to see what the pack master does?
Tempestria - 34 Human Warlock - Stormrage
Threnody - 60 Undead Warlock - Dalvengyr (retired)
Zenobia - 60 Tauren Shaman - Dalvengyr (retired)

The few that I've turned in have just given me 50 AD faction and an insignia. Perhaps a certain number of turnins trigger something, but I haven't seen it.

I was thinking 'maybe you have to be in a raid', but never got around to trying that.

That's an interesting bit of speculation. Maybe the caravan leaves when enough items get turned in.

I've noticed the caravan leaving twice. Once was at 1pm server time. The second was around 9pm. So the "every twelve hours" idea is shot.

I'm leaning towards it being based on the number of writ turnins, though I have no idea how I'd guage that. Perhaps an NPC somewhere gives an idea of how many have been turned in on that day?

I just encountered Guard Didier outside LHC tonight, under attack by a bunch of slimes. After I helped him fight them off, the only thing that he would say to me was that it was "a shame what happened to those mules", or something to that effect. They'd obviously been killed by the slimes, so it seems like an escort quest of sorts.

I suspect that if I'd been by earlier and helped save the mules, he might have had a quest for me. I'll keep trying to catch him as he leaves LHC and see what happens.

On Tribade's way to Stratholme the other night she encountered a group of AD NPC's and several scourge fighting a few slimes. I wish that I had saved a screen shot. It looked like the scourge were helping the AD, but they may have all been fighting each other.

I have long thought that after all the struggles going on in Azeroth, the slimes and murlocs will be the ones to rule.

In a remarkable coincidence, our guild happened to be gathering at Light's Hope when the caravan took off one time. We escorted the quest NPC and three mules all the way to the Argent Dawn camp near the graveyard in the center of the zone (south of Naxx and Stratholme). The mules are level 50, so they basically attracted every slime, bat, and demon dog within 10 miles of the route. When we finally got to the camp, everyone in the area (whether they had been involved in the escort or not) got to pick up a quest to get their papers signed and returned to LHC. To get them signed, you have to wait at the AD camp for a couple of minutes. I don't understand the purpose of this part at all, but anyway some big elite AD commander comes, acts all important and huffy, and then signs your papers. Easiest AD token I've gotten so far.

Five minutes after the caravan started on its journey, the last Scourge invasion point (150th) was destroyed on Tichondrius, causing most of the argent dawn NPC's to disappear.

Our invasion has been done for some time, but that guy still sits there waiting for heroes to help him out. Haven't seen him leave, either before or after the invasion was over. So it might just be bad timing.

I saw the caravan leave last night and head straight into the slimes. The mules have some serious kind of aggro beacause in defensive stance sundering and taunting I could only pull the slimes off them for short periods of time. One mule died before the rogue who happened by and I could kill all the slimes and the caravan just stopped there. This needs some fixing to be any kind of practical quest or event.

Finally. This morning Tribade stopped at Light's Hope to grab a bit of Thorium. By chance she saw Didier and his mules getting eaten by the slimes and came to their defense. As Mongo reported, they (slowly) made their way to the AD camp next to the new graveyard in the middle of the zone, where Didier gave his quest. The reward was not terribly useful to someone exalted with AD, but at least the escort was easier at 80 than at 60.

Rather unrelated, Woad, my hunter, is anxious to see the new slime feeding animation introduced with the last patch. But so far she has been too lazy to fetch Gumdrop from the stable, and she's forgotten what slimes eat (besides mules).

Over 3 years since the last reply. Is that a new record for thread necromancy?

Yes this quest is so hard to get that really its more trouble than its worth unless you are desperate for one more quest for loremaster.

I can't imagine needing one more quest in Eastern Kingdoms that badly to hunt this one down... I finished that long before Kalimdor.

Must have been! All of the dungeon and raid quests counted for eastern kingdoms for me, combined with all of the Argent Dawn faction stuff. I was scrounging at the bottom of the barrel for my Kalimdor one though (which is funny, since one character got it easily and one character had to hunt endlessly for it).

I'm not sure if you are horde or alliance but there are a LOT of bread crumb quests in Kalimdor for horde at least.
