Medivh 4tw!
#1
On January 17, 2006, 22:37 U.S. time, the WoW PvE server "Medivh" finally did it and completed the materials race for the Ahn'Quiraj war. The blue question marks over the NPC's heads disappeared, and Warlord Gorchuk and Commander Stronghammer told the players that the materials will arrive in Silithus in 5 days (1/22/2006). Then, the player who has created the scepter can hit the Scarab gong, and the Ahn'Quiraj gates will open.

Congrats to all players on "Medivh", and have fun!

*Awaiting your first screenshots from Ahn'Quiraj* :)

It would be neat if it escalated a bit more every day, until a complete army stood ready at the gates. :)

Nice screenshots. And, did you notice any increase of the Alliance/Horde NPC army yet? :)

Actually, yes. Found some more screenshots today. :)

And according to players on Medivh, there's also a second dwarven tank and an orcish catapult now. It does indeed look like they're adding more stuff every day.

Thanks. Please keep us posted with more screens showing the progress of day 3, 4 and 5, and of course the opening of the Ahn'Quiraj gates :)

I just found an even better source, the website of the Medivh guild Ascent. They update with both screens and text as soon as something happens, and as they are a guild that has completed BWL I'm sure they'll cover both AQ20 and AQ40 as the gates open. :)

Edit: Note that the alliance infantry are called 'Ironforge Infantryman', while the horde infantry are called 'Ogrimmar Elite Infantryman'. Funny. :D

That's really cool, reading below it looks like they kept track of contributions from various non-guild folks and are rewarding the biggest contributors with escorted trips to MC, Ony and BWL with "virtually unlimited" loot privlidges. I bet that was a great motivator for the non-raiding server population!

Yeah, major guilds on Tichondrius are doing the same thing. It started on the Alliance side and has moved to the Horde side. It's entirely possible that the Alliance side got the idea from Medivh, and it's entirely possible they came up with the idea on their own. Either way, it's a good idea.

The rules and prizes for the Horde raffle, hosted in general by The Core and in particular Vendetta, a TC officer, can be found here:

Is it confirmed that anybody on Medivah has completed the septer?

Those raffles are a pretty good idea. We had a couple of people try to orgainise cross faction exchanges (send one of them alliance mats, they send back horde ones), but I received a dissappointing return, 4 stacks of bandages in exchance for 15 stacks of varying quality.

My server started very strong, but has slipped. We are still the #3 PvP server, barely ahead of Tich, and just behind Stormrage.

Their gate openned up today, and I understand that major battles broke out over Silithus, Un'Goro Crater, and Ferales (locations with bug hives). Also server crashes, but that's to be expected.

--> Ahn'Qiraj Gate Opening on "Medivh" Video - Download (size: 55MB)

EDIT:

"The Mummy Returns" with the desert battles and the "Scorpion King" come to mind, but then we all know by now that Blizzard steal (admittedly good) their best stuff elsewhere ;)

When the last resource for the AQ war efforts was entered, how long did it take until the Alliance and Horde commanders and the first soldiers of the army appeared in Silithus in the Cenarion Stronghold?

I'm asking because our server, the German "Cenarion Circle" RP server, just finished the AQ war efforts at 17:50 CET, and I'm now waiting in the Cenarion Stronghold in Silithus to take first screenshots :D

Every 24 hours (precisely) after the war effort is finished, new things appear in Silithus. After five 24-hour periods, the gong becomes ringable.

Ok, thanks. So, the commanders and first soldiers will be there tomorrow at 17:50 CET, right?

You know, when I watched "The Mummy Returns" (don't remember the exact title, but I mean the 2nd mummy movie with Brendan Frasier) and saw the pygmy skeletons squabbling over a stick of dynamite I thought "Diablo II". They looked exactly like the undead fetishes and flayers of Act III.

That was some time after D2 was released.

Now who did plagiate from whom? ;)
