Seven Wonders of the WoW World
#1
Ok, so I looked at the Travelwowcity site and started thinking about tourist locations in WoW and thought this might be a fun thread to kick off.

Pretend you are a tourist and you're vacationing in Azeroth (the planet, not the continent). You have to pick your top 7 touristy sites to visit. They could be a city or place you want to visit, a monster you wish to see, a brilliant monument, etc.

What's your top 7 "must see" sites in WoW?

Off the top of my head:
- Darkmoon Faire
- The stone dam in Loch Modan
- The new world tree: Teldrassil
- The great waterfall that begins inner Maradon
- The Undercity of the Forsaken
- Skydiving off of the Twin Colossals in Feralas
- Lord Kazzak ... but not too close. :P

- Yeah, Stonewrought Dam.
- And, yeah, the Twin Colossals.
- The Vile Reef.
- Jintha Alor.
- Dalaran.
- Thandol Span.
- The Dark Portal!
Darian Redwin - just some dude now

* The flight from Ironforge to Stormwind.
* The Uldaman Vibrating Golems.
* The Great Lift of Thousand Needles (as you are MC'd off).
* The Salt Flats racetrack.
* Any number of very, very deep ocean spots with sharks swimming back and forth.
* The Silithus hive.
* Inner Maraudon (have to agree with you there, wow!).

Definitely the flight from Ironforge to Stormwind.

The giant Dinosaurs in Un Goro(their name eludes me.) Scariest thing in MMO ever.

Those are the 2 I would include for sure.

I would say:
  1. The Temple of the Moon in Darnassus<>
  2. The Ruins of Lordaeron<>
  3. The Dark Portal<>
  4. The Great Lift (and while you're in the area, watch the races!)<>
  5. Un'Goro Crater (ecotourist spot)<>
  6. Blackrock Mountain (the hub of so much activity and villainy)<>
  7. The Sunken Temple (for history/archaeology buffs)<>
[st]Honorable mention goes to Gnomeregan for how well it shows the ingenuity of the gnomish race. However, the whole ambient radiation problem and the fact that it's populated by gnome lepers and troggs does reduce its appeal as a tourist destination.

Darkmoon Faire isn't a Wonder of WoW... yet. Still far too underpopulated.
  • Teldrassil, from Rut'theran Village, and Darnassus full circle, including the Protector by the gate<>
  • Stonewrought Dam<>
  • Blackrock Mountain, seen from the BRS Balcony - watch the dragon flying around<>
  • Un'goro - the flight from Gadgetzan to Silithus highlights the savage beauty<>
  • Any of the Great Dragons - Onyxia, Azuregos, Lethon, etc.<>
  • The view from Grim Batol in the Wetlands - marvelous set of waterfalls and abandoned architecture<>
  • Sunken Temple - this place has atmosphere<>

Stranglethorn Vale. There is a certain path outside of town that leads up and away from everything giving a marvelous view

Ragnaros room in MC, not for the timid, especially when he's there.

Alterac Valley, lots of nice views here.

The great Anvil area of ironforge.

Silverpine forest for all the goths/necrofiliacs out there.

The Tram (just beware this area on RP servers) :o

Blizz did a pretty decent job of all the sights in the game.

(the tram in reference to the story that was around about the couple that were RPing and they thought they were alone, interesting things seem to happen here  )
When you reach the edge of everything, and the only thing left to do is step into the darkness rest assured one of to things shall happen. Either there will be ground for you to stand on or you shall be taught to fly.

If I considered things from an Azeroth perspective and not necessarily the art for them...
In no particular order...

- Dark Portal
- Teldrassil - Big, big, big tree...
- Mount Hyjal - And the former big tree
- Blackrock Mountain
- Un'goro crater - Love the atmosphere there
- Thunder bluff - Love the concept behind the place.
- Stonewrought Dam

Edit: Formatting, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization...
Onyxia:
Kichebo - 85 NE Druid

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Hrm, places I find visually appealing...

The Power Crystal Cave in Un'Goro.
1000 Needles (Entire zone)
Twin Colossus
The shaped trees inside Teldrasil
Stonewrought Dam
Blackrock Mountain
Winterspring (I love the way the zone is done)

Mine would be:

Undercity
Ironforge
Booty Bay
Un'goro Crater
Blackrock Mountain on "raid sunday"
Gnomeregan
Dire Maul (especially west; love this place)
Melisandre: http://ctprofiles.net/371601

I'm not an addict ... maybe that's a lie.

Hmm, it's a bit tough to narrow it down to seven, but they would be:

- DM Arena of an evening
- Overlooking the Vile Reef from the zep at sunset
- The big damn. (I know everyone else has said it, but that thing is just cooooool!)
- Get yourself some noggenfogger, put on your climbing boots and jump from Winterspring into Azshara.
- While you're there, check out the ruins along the coast of Azshara.
- The Cathedral in SM.
- The waterfall in Maradon. That just blew me away when I first saw it. :)
I hate flags

"Then Honor System came out and I had b*$@& tattoo'd on my forehead and a "kick me" sign taped to my back." - Tiku

Stormscale: Treglies, UD Mage; Treggles, 49 Orc Shaman; Tregor, semi-un-retired Druid.

Terenas (all retired): 60 Druid; 60 Shaman. (Not very creative with my character selection, am I?!Wink

Lots of neat stuff to see!

I don't suppose anyone's ever been there :P , but the Temple of the Moon in Darnassus is really pretty. The Dark Portal in the Blasted lands is kind of cool, too.
Stormrage: Rocdog - Night Elf Hunter - Skinning/Leatherworking
Stormrage: Bait - Human Warrior - Herbalism/Alchemy

A variety of opinions... Well, OK

1. Scarlet Crusade cities, stronghold in Stratholme being the best. These colors just blow me away.
2. Dalaran sphere, view from the hill
3. Aszhara, from the hills again, to see the landscape
4. Booty Bay, view from the sea
5. Stonewrought Dam
6. Grim Batol view, as Tuftears described
7. Shore in NW part of Desolace
