What he said. :) Although my own guild comes first, barring any obligations in that respect as far as I'm concerned a request for assistance from a Lurker may as well be a request from one of my own guildmates. Don't hesitate to ping me if you need a hand.

I've actually been informed by my wife that we have family plans this friday night. I have, however, secured permission for WoW gaming starting no later than 4pm Saturday afternoon with carte blanche to go as late as I need. So those of you available will have at least a semi-tank to call upon for runs. If we get enough of us we can form two groups and see who gets everything done first. ;)

P.S. I'll still need Loch around because you're a lot of fun to play with. :D

Hmmm, 4pm server time is 3pm my time. That is my morning, but given the  , how can I resist? I'll be especially zippy getting my showering and brunch preparation completed and get myself logged on.

I'll toss in my 2 cents, as I'm not on servers with any of you guys....

I have a guild group, Alliance or Horde to pull from, and friends that I've made. Keshi's always been a tour guide, and now, that's coming back in spades, as my little warrior gets invited to all the good groups. I solo-green-quest a lot, but I get invited to friends' and guild groups all the time, because some of these people are the ones I gave 50s to when they were lvl 10 and getting frustrated with not having any decent eq, or couldn't even repair eq.....or had nothing but orange and red quests in their quest logs, and I escorted/walked them to the other areas that had quests for them, or helped them with a class quest, or whatever.

I'm funny that way...I solo a lot, but I'll jump in a group with what seems to be a decent person doing the same quest I am in a second....and jump right back out if they turn out to be asses.....

If you're lvl 60, and you've seen it all........

1) go play Horde/Alliance..the one you haven't done yet to 60
2) do it with a diff class....it's not the same...the areas may be, the mobs may be, but your toon isn't...
3) do areas in a different order this time, with the diff class/race
4) if none of the above help....it may not be for you...

Exactly... I've quit getting my feeder bar pressed...

That's actually an analogy I've used in game for collection quests where the drop rate is too low and/or the environment you have to work in to tedious to make the drop rate bearable...

The whole game now, for me, seems to have unfortunately gotten too tedious, and the drop rate is too low... I'm not getting adequate pay off on my feeder bar.

Looks like I'll probably be renewing the account, though. I've got a couple friends that want to play... Looks like we'll be on Terenas, playing baby hordlings.

This is why I don't let mages into my instance groups! They sit and drink so much, I hate waiting like that! But more seriously...
Quote:...So we longtime Diablo players are being thrust into the MMORPG world, many of us for the first time. We will either adjust to the reality of needing to group up, or we won't. You are having trouble adjusting, and I am as well - I find myself never getting around to doing these high level instances because:

1) They require a lot of time. A 10-hour run of Stratholme that I heard about just gives me the heebie-jeebies.
2) They depend on many other players, which feeds into #1.
3) I'm not part of the "cliques" that form up on the servers because I prefer soloing, thus I don't get invited.
4) I don't "farm" - once I've run an instance and cleaned out its quests, I'm done with it. Maybe someday that'll change, but for now I prefer leveling alts over farming.
I'm going to reach 30 on my Druid this week, unless I decide suddenly that I want to make another unsuccessful push for Guardian on my flashy Hydra sorceress. Already I feel past my prime-I got schooled getting Sven Yorgen's book in Duskwood four times! On a green quest! But on the other hand I have gone through two rounds each of laborious but rewarding Panter- and Tiger-hunting in Stranglethorn, with one death (when my bear whiffed five mauls in a row). I'm not sure if I even have enough time under normal circumstances to finish Gnomeregan in one go (fortunately the Workshop Key may make it more feasible). And 12-hour Scholomance clears, 10-hour Stratholme trips, and raiding guilds who want every available member on six hours a night blow my mind.

Number 2) isn't such a problem for me, I have an easy time finding random groups to go around and do pretty much any quest so far. I consider myself very lucky, I haven't ended up in groups with jerks (though I'm still peeved by fools who want to kill VanCleef at 15...) and I get all the items I need (my staff, gloves, bracers, belt, and maybe even pants) all came from BFD. Groups are the least of my worries...for now.

I too, prefer soloing, but I'm not afraid to ask for groups if I'm having trouble or want to do something that's otherwise impossible (red quests). However, I don't feel like I'm ever going to have a shot at high end instances or raids until they up the level cap. But without those things, I'm not going to be around that long...there's always PvP, but...Guild Wars is free per month, and I have a Druid, as opposed to somebody who is actually some sort of efficient player killer. (actually right now I beat rogues 1- or lower, if I get to hit first, but my friend's 58 Druid has nothing on them)

The first thing I caught on to when I started playing Diablo II (thanks to an insane fanatic who loved the "do everything once, and only once) was that I didn't ever want to repeat the same thing over and over and over with the same character. Not for experience, not for items, not for anything. Once again, I haven't had any trouble with this to this point, but according to most forums the 60's have had to repeat instances multiple times. I'm not sure if I'll ever have a shot in this venue either.
Quote:So you and I are hitting the wall - either we learn to group up and play well with others, or we'll be moving to the Next Big Thing (Guild Wars?) in short order. I don't know if I am the right personality for it either...

That makes three of us. I love playing my Druid but I fear the day when my special abilities will go by the wayside and I'll become a healbot for instances. Or I'll be an eternally gimped PvPer. My own third month is ending soon, and already I'm feeling intimidated by the enormity of either a) starting another character to level up and either perform a role I enjoy more than a percieved second rate healer, b ) starting another character (warrior, almost certainly) to engage in PvP honor and battlegrounds c) sticking with my Druid and having a level 60 character who's gimped in solo/PvP and doesn't have time for high end group stuff d) cancel my subscription and face the permanent loss of four days of my life.

/wince

Does anybody have advice for me? Please?

Woot!

More horde lurkers to be social with. Though that means probably even less time for me on Tich. You shouldn't have problems with groups all the way through the 40's with the char and alt set-ups there right now. Weekends have a decent population as do Mondays and Wednesday. If you don't want to Lurker guild over there, join the Lurker channel and see if anyone wants to party up. I've "scolded" people enough that they watch it fairly closely now. :)

Lucky, Lucky Horde.

Catlyn, you know my feelings, so I won't gush. I'm very glad you've decided to stay.

You'll love the players over on Teranas. All of us uptight Alliance types turn into goof balls the minute we hit Mulgore.

I can't really speak as a high level or as a lurker guild member because i'm really neither. I've just started playing WoW. But I have played nearly every major MMORPG that has come out since UO and i've found a good way to judge if i should keep paying for my account upkeep.

Generally if i can get 10+ hours of entertainment out of a game each month I will keep paying to play it. (with the additional requirement of whether or not there is a different game that draws my interest at the time.) The way i see it is MMO's are the cheapest form of entertainment you can find. 15 dollars each month could either go for my account on an MMO or it could take me to two movies (maybe) that month. Would I rather have unlimited possible entertainment from an MMO for that money or 4-6 hours of entertainment from a movie or two?

Now there are lots of games that i've cancelled subscriptions for that I just couldn't bring myself to log in anymore from pure boredom (cough EQ2 cough) so if you fit in that catagory than I guess you should find a new fix. Another thing to keep in mind, however, is that a general MMO schedule releases a new Expansion every 6-8 months so it would be fair to assume that an expansion will probably be announced in the next couple months, possibly at E3. News has already started filtering out on the EQ2 expansion and that game was only released a little bit before WoW.
