Far Cry v1.3 LAN problems
#1
So besides trying to play as much Guild Wars as I could on Friday, I also have a defacto LAN event every Friday night and we tried to implement the new v1.3 patch for Far Cry.

When we create a LAN game the creator has no problems and all appears right. But anyone who connects to that game has no gun model, no crosshair, cannot see position changes (moving to crouched or prone) and the AI totally ignores you. You cannot tell what weapon you have equipped and you seemingly take no damage, although to the server player you are visible and they can see everything you attempt to do. We tried this from three different clients, and even set up a dedicated server where all the clients where messed up, so it is not hardware related.

Anyone have the same problem, or a solution, or any insight?

Heh... nobody on the semi-official Far Cry forums wanted to touch this question either.

The deal was, the 1.3 patch only "fixed" issues for official maps (because the CryTek team redid those to work under v1.3). What we'd been playing were *very* nonstandard co-op maps, in particular this one called "Verlassende" made by a fanboy in Germany who hasn't overhauled his creation post-patch. In fact looks like even the original map isn't generally available for download anymore.

If there was more co-op PvE for LAN- and WWW-based Far Cry, it would be a lot more fun. UT2004 rocks, and does what it does brilliantly--but it lacks a certain amount of realism (such as it is).
