Mephisto and Life/Mana steal

I guess my only question is why cant I steal life or mana while attacking him?
I can steal from all of the other super boss's so what is different with mephisto? SDCougar

Different monsters in different difficulties have different leech penalties. Mephisto in nightmare and hell and Diablo in hell have 0%. That is, you can't leech from them at all. In the case of many monsters, you can leech, but not very much.

Ah, that sucks. I guess no more Meph runs with my WW barb.

My Orb sorc can not leech from him, and has no problems with running Meph :P
You can still leech life from him if you have some way of casting Life Tap (a wand with life tap charges, or Dracul's Grasp).
(edited to clarify what it is you can leech)
