Invision Power Board 2.0

http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...2&mode=threaded

This is the threaded view format in IPB 2.0, currently under development. I dig this. Since the threaded view mod author did not update his mod for versions of IPB higher than 1.1, I've held off upgrading this forum software. The later versions have some very cool new stuff. When 2.0 is released, I'll be free to upgrade this baby.

Anyhow, that's weeks/months off, but I'm happy that the best forum software out there is now finally adding threaded view as an official thread type!

So much better than my dead project at: http://thepumpkinking.com/iv_board_forums/...act=ST&f=2&t=12 (some limited bandwidth there but you can poke around a bit)

I never fixed the post view problems after I got them to display in threaded order. And the original thread hack author never got back with me on any of my questions.

I stil prefer it threaded but with the whole thread loaded with a single click (so I don't have to load each message individually).

Like here (example thread): http://www.dropshipcommand.com/forum/dcboa..._id=49302&page=

Were The Lounge like that, I'd be in forum reading heaven :D .

I hate threaded view, and there's an option somewhere on this board where each user can choose himself how he wants the thread to be displayed.

With a single click, I get all the replies on 1 page. You can too.

While remaining in threaded mode?

If that's possible, could you tell me how I can set it up in this manner?

No, in non-threaded. To me it looks like this:

edit: Of course, the text isn't that small. I just zoomed out to give you an overview of how it looked. ('m normally at 100%. I zoomed out to 70%.)

Yes, this is how the Dc Forums were, and I loved it! Much faster to read.

On a serious note here, Bolt, please please PLEASE tell me that threaded view has a "show all posts in one page" option like the old (original) LL forums had. I can't stand loading a new page for each post (and I'll often load up a dozen threads if I have to free up the phoneline for whatever reason - makes for good reading material). :(

I'll back you whichever way you go, man, but IMO even the current board settings are better than the post you linked to. :P

I dunno... the threaded view they are adding basicly looks just like the one currently used (the hack for 1.1 and lower) I decided against going with InvB because it lacked Threaded view *and* (almost mosre importantly a "view all" option like DCF does. InvB is free, and would be more than worth a small price to pay if it were necessary... But I am not sure that I have seen anything in InvB 2.0 that would make me want to shell out $60/year or $150 for a "lifetime" license.

Sorry 'Locke, you can't seem to have it all. DCForum had the superior threaded view that is unrivalled by other forum software - but it also isn't as clean, fast, and stable as Invision Power Board. It was an administrative nightmare to use.

The threaded view they have in 2.0 of IPB may be a start - I'll push for more once they have that going well. Having the "indented posts" that DCForum had would be very sweet, I agree.

OK, administrative nightmare. Check.

Having a working site/forum is more important than appeasing me.

(Bet you never thought you'd hear me say that, eh? :P )

A link to the image will do nicely. I browse at 800x600, and a giant image like that posted in the forums makes a thread unreadable.
