Yes, I know it's ugly.
We're now running on MyBB version 1.4.13. The default skin is in place except for the logo image. I really need help skinning this puppy. Suggestions are welcome; themes are available for download at MyBB's website, but I'd kill for a custom theme that's "Lurkerish."
Anyway, in terms of functionality, it should all be there. Please report bugs or desires here. There are currently no language packs installed because this version of MyBB just came out and there is a limited selection available at the moment.
Stuff that was mostly lost:
1) Many signatures got wonky - check yours, please, and correct it if so.
2) Avatars got lost - reset yours. You can now upload one, too.
3) Threading information was dropped, so all old posts show a singular threading. New posts will work, though.

Can the post path, like the one at the beginning of a thread (e.g. "The Lurker Lounge Forums / The Lurker Lounge / Suggestion Box / The New Forum Has Arrived"), also be at the end of the thread, preferably between the end of the thread and the quick reply edit box?

What is the status of the private messages? Were they all lost? At first, the top of the page showed "Private Messages (Unread 0, Total 42)", but going to the private message page showed no messages in any folders. Now it doesn't even pretend they are there and shows "Private Messages (Unread 0, Total 0)".

It's kind of hard to get an idea for how the downloadable themes on the MyBB site will look on an entire forum from the small screenshots but here are 3 that looked decent to me:

I always thought the theme on the old board was a bit dated but I have to say, I kind of miss it now.

I can't log in using anything but I.E.  I have tried Chrome, Firefox, and even (shudders) Opera. It sends me through as though it is a successful login, but then when it sends me back to the page I was on when I logged in, it is as if I didn't log In. I can't see any of the forums that I have access to, and it says Welcome Guest.
I'm not sure what the cause of this would be, though I know that Maintankadin had a similar problem with Chrome and their board, but they were able to get it rectified.

I use firefox - try clearing your cookies.

Log in works fine in Netscape 4.0.

I cleared everything from Chrome and Firefox, and I'm now able to login... only from the forum main page. Seems odd. I came here, saw that, CTRL+SHFT+DEL'd, cleared everything, and then couldn't reply from this thread (I tried 10+ times) Once I backed out to the forum index, I was able to log in just fine... I will PM sabindeus on MTadin and see if he can tell me what the problem that they had was.

I didn't even have to clear my cookies to get it to log me in with firefox. I have (well, had) the main page bookmarked though rather than the forums itself, but I don't think that would cause a difference.

Seconded. Maybe it is old eyes or an intense hatred of change, but I found the old skin much easier to read and I would be a happy camper if it stayed exactly the same skin on the new chassis.

Yes. It was far too much to bring over. If you had some kind of important information stored in your PM's and you don't mind me seeing it, I can try to dig through the old database to pull it up. I didn't think this would be much of a loss, though.

Supposedly the captcha's on this are stronger. Hard to say for now, as the numerous bots who kept hitting the forum are currently confused and not working. If they come back, I can look into anti-spam mods to fight them, options that I didn't have with the old software. Meanwhile, if some human being wants to come on and spam, there's still nothing that can really be done about it. You'll notice there's a ratings system on the forum. I can look into how that could be used to just downrate someone into oblivion, but given the heated political discussions on the board I have to make sure that doesn't get abused.

I had a weird problem at first too, where I couldn't log out. I had to nuke all lurkerlounge.com cookies before it started working properly. I'm not sure what's going on with that, because the cookie settings I configured shouldn't interfere with anything else on this domain. BTW, this was with Firefox.

The odd thing is that study after study concludes that it's harder to read light text on a dark background than dark text on a light background. I think it may just be that after so many years, you got so used to it, that this is a shock. I agree that a dark board fits the "Lurker" theme, though.

Update to the weirdness with Chrome.
I can't login from any page that isn't index.php for some reason. BUT, when I show up and it has me marked as a guest, if I click the image link at the top to go to the index.php, I'm automatically signed in.
I don't know if I'm going to stick with chrome or not, it is quite the resource hog (but oh god it is nice for web design), and It is seemingly becoming more unstable each time they update it
Oh yes, Is there any chance at getting the custom titles again? Not a huge deal or anything, but it was pretty cool.

At home (firefox on Ubuntu), I had no issues. Here at work (firefox on Red Hat Enterprise pile-o-crap 5) I could not log in without clicking through the main page.

Strange, the ergo class they made me take here years back suggested that for eyestrain purposes a dark back ground with light text was best -- not black and white, but like a deep purple background with an offwhite foreground.

like it so far. I too would favor a darker background w/ light colored text.
site works fine from work on firefox, though when I got to login screen the first time it had remembered my pass but NOT my username, which I found odd.
Only oddity Ive seen is we lost that "list of characters" box that used to show under out avatar pic, but that's hardly crucial since we have profiles if people really want to see EVERY character I care to list
D3 - look for Zich (all classes, all named Zich...)
WoW - look for Zich/Maclnnes/Dreadblood
